Dr Michael Robson (Ireland)

Dr Michael Robson, completed his training and earned his MBBS at St Thomas’s Hospital, London, England, in 1982.
With a rich background in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Robson served as a Consultant at Wycombe General Hospital, England, from 1995 to 2004. During this period, he also held the position of Clinical Director from 1995 to 2001.

Following his tenure in England, Dr Robson assumed the role of Master at The National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, serving from 2005 to 2011. Currently, he holds the position of Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, overseeing a hospital that delivers 8,000 babies annually.

Dr Robson’s primary focus revolves around the meticulous management of labour and ensuring the safe delivery of both mother and baby. His expertise extends to organisational aspects of the labour ward, encompassing teaching, audit, and research. Dr Robson’s publications predominantly centre around the audit of labour and delivery, with a specific research interest in the aetiology of dystocic labour.

Notably, Dr Robson serves as the National Clinical Director for the development and implementation of a National Electronic Patient Record for maternity, neonates, and gynaecology in Ireland. His commitment to advancements in healthcare is further evident through the development of an Intrapartum Audit Software Program, aligned with the philosophy and structure of the Ten Group Classification System.
