Professor Lourdes Blanco Capito (Philippines)

Dr. Lourdes Blanco Capito is a distinguished Filipino obstetrician-gynecologist and academic leader, renowned for her expertise in trophoblastic diseases, maternal health, and medical ethics. A graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, Dr. Capito completed advanced fellowships in ultrasonography, endocrinology, and perinatology at Kobe University, Japan.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, she has held key academic positions at the UP-Philippine General Hospital, including Professor VI and Deputy Director for Health Operations. Dr. Capito has served as President of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and the Philippine Society of Climacteric Medicine, and has chaired numerous national and international committees on ethics, education, and clinical practice. Her leadership extends to founding the Philippine Society for Responsible Parenthood and advancing family planning initiatives.
