Dr Michelle Wise

Associate Professor Michelle Wise is Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Auckland, and a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Te Toka Tumai Auckland Hospital.

She developed the first New Zealand clinical practice guideline on induction of labour and is currently chairing the group developing the RANZCOG guideline on induction of labour. Dr Wise was the principal investigator on the OBLIGE trial on outpatient balloon catheter (www.oblige.auckland.ac.nz) and is a co-investigator on two other induction of labour trials.

She has over 75 peer-reviewed publications and has secured several major and prestigious research grants. Dr Wise teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in all areas of women’s health and research. She recently launched a suite of University of Auckland Short Courses in women’s health for primary care practitioners.
