Peter Coombs

Peter Coombs is Sonographer in Charge at Monash Health and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Menzies Centre for Health Research. He has made longstanding contributions to ultrasound education in Australia and has co-authoring numerous publications. Peter was named the third Australian Sonographer of the Year in 1999 and received the ASUM Humanitarian Award in 2019. In 2026, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to sonography, tertiary education, and clinical training. His current interests include liver surveillance in remote settings and his ongoing work in Cambodia.
