Dr Areni Altun (Australia)

Monash University

Dr Areni Altun is a Research Fellow at the Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University. Her research focuses on perinatal mental health, with a particular emphasis on improving equitable access to care for migrant and refugee women. Dr Altun completed her PhD in 2024, examining healthcare access and chronic pain outcomes among refugee women, and has since focused on advancing culturally responsive perinatal mental health support. She has published extensively on migrant women’s health and presented her work at national and international conferences. Her current research explores how digital health resources can better support migrant mothers by addressing cultural, linguistic, and structural barriers to care. She also collaborates with the Information Technology department at Monash University to apply human-centred design approaches in the development of equitable digital health solutions.
