Dr Anthea Lindquist (Australia)

University of Melbourne

Dr Anthea Lindquist is a clinician–researcher who balances roles as an obstetrician and perinatal epidemiologist. She practices at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne, a major tertiary referral centre, where she leads one of the obstetric units. She completed her PhD in perinatal epidemiology at the University of Oxford and now co-leads the Perinatal Epidemiology Group at the University of Melbourne.
Her research examines long-term outcomes for mothers and children following common exposures during pregnancy and the periconceptional period. Using linked population data and advanced causal inference methods, she addresses questions that are often infeasible or unethical to study in randomised trials. Her work has explored outcomes such as childhood development after planned induction of labour and educational performance following assisted reproductive technologies.
Since 2017, she has secured over AUD 2 million in competitive funding and leads a multidisciplinary research team, supervising students and the next generation of perinatal epidemiologists.
