Dr Haddy Hughes is an Australian Emergency Medicine Specialist of English and Gambian heritage, practising on Gadigal land. She is a committed advocate for gender and racial equity, with a particular focus on improving emergency care for patients experiencing chronic pelvic pain. Her current research explores patterns of emergency department utilisation among patients with endometriosis.
Dr Hughes holds certificates in Reducing Racial Disparities in Healthcare and Effective Writing for Healthcare from Harvard University. She has published on female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), endometriosis, menstrual leave, and patient-centred care during speculum examinations in the emergency department.
Haddy served on the organising committee for Australias inaugural FGM/C conference in 2026, and is collaborating with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine to develop clinical standards for FGM/C. She is also an executive member of ACEMs Advancing Women in Emergency Medicine Network.
She looks forward to speaking at AOFOG and contributing to multidisciplinary dialogue on equitable, trauma-informed care.
