Pedro Melo MD PhD MRCOG is a Senior Fellow in Women’s and Reproductive Health and an Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals, UK. He studied medicine in Lisbon and Paris before completing postgraduate training in Oxford, a master’s in Clinical Embryology at the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Birmingham.
His clinical work spans infertility and assisted conception, early pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, and endometriosis. His research focuses on infertility and miscarriage. He is the national clinical coordinator of the NIHR-funded LOCI trial in polycystic ovary syndrom, chief investigator of the OxLuPIn study on luteal dysfunction and placental health, and the Oxford Lead for the Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage Research.
In 2023, he was awarded the Florence and William Blair Bell Fellowship by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
