Boon is Senior Staff Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Clinical Director of the Women’s and Children Services, Tasmanian Health Service North West, Australia.
Boon served two terms as Vice President and is currently Board Director of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and on the Council of AOFOG.
Boon commenced his training in OBGYN in Malaysia and completed his training in Aberdeen, Scotland. Upon completion of specialist training, he held clinical leadership positions in New Zealand, Scotland and England before moving to Australia. He is Clinical Professor in OBGYN with the University of Tasmania, and Clinical Associate Professor with the Australian National University. His research interests are in preterm birth prevention and iron deficiency in women’s health. He has several peer reviewed journal publications, book chapters and co-authored a textbook. He is on the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
