Dr James Aridas is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with experience across metropolitan, regional, remote and humanitarian maternity settings in Australia and South Sudan. He holds a PhD in perinatal medicine and an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, with particular interests in clinical leadership, health-system improvement and workforce wellbeing. As Chief Registrar at Monash Women’s and Children’s during the COVID-19 pandemic, James supported a large junior medical workforce through significant operational pressure. He co-developed a peer-led wellbeing and burnout-prevention program that was evaluated in peer-reviewed research, contributed to a national RANZCOG wellbeing initiative, and received the RANZCOG Wellbeing Award. His work focuses on practical, evidence-informed approaches to psychological safety, compassionate leadership and sustainable clinical practice. He is an experienced educator and speaker who enjoys translating complex evidence into useful strategies for multidisciplinary teams and the public.
