Personalising Luteal Phase Support: Are We Ready to Move Beyond One-Size Fits All Progesterone?

Progesterone remains the cornerstone of luteal phase support in assisted reproduction however, growing evidence suggests that a “one-size-fits-all” approach may not provide optimal outcomes for all patients. Advances in reproductive medicine are increasingly highlighting the importance of individual variation in progesterone exposure during the implantation window and early pregnancy, challenging traditional approaches to luteal phase support.

This symposium, led by Dr Pedro Melo, will explore the evolving science of luteal function and progesterone supplementation, drawing on his internationally recognised research into serum progesterone levels, embryo transfer outcomes, and personalised reproductive care. The symposia will review contemporary evidence surrounding progesterone monitoring, threshold levels associated with optimal implantation and live birth outcomes, and clinical implications of low luteal progesterone concentrations.
