He is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with 35 years of experience, holding an MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Sri Lanka and FRCOG (U.K.).
He currently serves as the Head of the Examination Unit of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
He previously served as the Chair of the Maternal–Fetal Medicine (MFM) Committee of AOFOG and is presently an Advisor to the committee
He is also the Vice President of SAFOG.
From 2019 to 2023, he served as the Chair of the RCOG Representative Committee in Sri Lanka.
He is a Past President of the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (SLCOG) and the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka.
He has extensive experience in Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) surgery, having performed over 200 cases, including both radical and conservative surgical procedures.
He is also a member of the FIGO Working Group on the Clinical Diagnosis of Placenta Accreta Spectrum Disorders.
Additionally, he has conducted live surgical workshops on PAS in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
