Professor Champika Gihan

Professor Maggonage Champika Gihan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He holds an MBBS from the University of Peradeniya; an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Colombo; an MRCOG (UK); a Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopy from Clermont-Ferrand, France; and advanced training in Subfertility and Reproductive Endocrinology in the United Kingdom. His clinical and research interests include subfertility, polyendocrine metabolic ovary syndrome, high-risk obstetrics and preterm birth. Professor Gihan has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at leading international conferences, including RCOG and AOFOG meetings. He is the recipient of several national and international awards, including the Professor Sabharatnam Arulhumaran’s YGA (2017) AOFOG YGA (2019) and Sir Lankan President’s Award recognising his contributions to women’s health research and clinical practice.
