Dr Rachel Rapkin (New Zealand)

Te Whatu Ora

Dr. Rachel Rapkin is an obstetrician gynaecologist who completed all of her training, including a fellowship in Complex Family Planning, in the United States. Prior to moving to New Zealand, she worked at the University of South Florida for nearly a decade, where she started a Ryan Program, expanding surgical abortion access and training in both the hospital and community settings. She now works as the Clinical Lead of Te Mahoe Unit, the regional abortion unit in Wellington. In this role she continues to work to increase abortion access and training not just in Wellington, but around the country. She recently co-created and ran the “Later Abortion Road Show” – a grant-funded educational packet taken around Aotearoa to educate hospitals in later abortion care. She currently serves on the board of the New Zealand College of Sexual and Reproductive Health and is co-chair of Abortion Providers Group Aotearoa New Zealand.
