Dr Pelle Kempe is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in Sweden and Aotearoa New Zealand. He currently leads the Women’s Health service at Palmerston North Hospital, Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua, MidCentral, Te Whatu Ora, driving service improvements in collaboration with midwifery and executive teams. Pelle is committed to team-based care and the practical use of data to guide services, measure outcomes, and enhance quality. His senior roles have included oversight of clinical services across multiple hospital sites. Nationally, he serves as a Councillor for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), chairs the RANZCOG Aotearoa New Zealand Committee, and contributes to system-level planning via the Te Whatu Ora Maternity National Clinical Network and Health New Zealand Clinical Senate. He holds a PhD in reproductive health and is actively involved in registrar supervision and teaching, focusing on collaboration and practical solutions that improve care for women and families.
