Professor Descamps has been at the forefront of developing biomarkers that will enable earlier and easier detection of endometriosis, which is a debilitating disease that affects millions. His cutting-edge research into micro-RNA (miRNA) has led to the discovery of the salivary miRNA test which is a simple, accurate and cost-effective way of detecting endometriosis early. This test has the potential to alleviate the pain, suffering and subfertility experienced by millions of women worldwide.
Professor Descamps is very much in demand on the lecture circuit and has already embarked on collaborative research in other parts of the world including Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His selection to deliver the “Malaysia Lecture” will not only bring us up to date with current innovations but also enable our Asia Oceania region to participate in collaboratives work in this exciting and expanding field.
