Welcome from AOFOG President
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that, as the President of the Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG), I extend a warm invitation to all our esteemed colleagues and members to join us at the Asia Oceanic Congress 2026. This exciting event will be held in the beautiful city of Warrane (Sydney), Australia, in October 2026. We will come together on the lands of the Gadigal Peoples of the Eora Nation, a place with a rich history and deep cultural significance. It will be a time for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of knowledge in the vital fields of obstetrics and gynaecology.
As we approach the future of women’s health, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. With technology, science, and innovation advancing at a rapid pace, the landscape of obstetrics and gynaecology is evolving like never before. The Asia-Pacific region has long been at the forefront of these changes, and in 2026, we will gather to look ahead, exploring how we can collectively revolutionize our practices, adapt to emerging innovations, and improve healthcare delivery for women.
Our theme for this Congress is “Equivolution: Equity and Sustainability in Women’s Health”. This theme will guide our discussions and shape our vision for the future. We will focus not only on environmental sustainability, which is a growing concern for many of our Pacific Island neighbours, but also on the sustainability of our workforce and communities. How do we ensure the continued success and vitality of our profession? How can we foster environments of equity in education, leadership, and service delivery, ensuring that every woman, girl, and individual who seeks obstetrics and gynaecological care receives it in an equitable and just manner, both in healthcare and in their broader lives?
Our program has been thoughtfully designed to cater to a broad spectrum of interests, and we encourage lively debate and active participation. Through collective dialogue and shared experiences, we aim to identify solutions that will drive equitable healthcare access for women from all walks of life and ensure the sustainability of our healthcare systems across the globe.
As we prepare for this incredible journey together, I extend my warmest welcome to all of you. Let AOFOG 2026 be an inspiring event that fosters new knowledge, strengthens connections, and deepens friendships. May the Congress make a lasting impact on our professional development and on the health and well-being of women around the world.
I look forward to seeing you in Sydney in 2026.
Dr John Tait
AOFOG, President
